Brother Drum Carder XL

The Brother Drum Carder XL is the heart of our mill. This professional carder gently aligns fibers while opening locks and blending them into smooth, consistent batts or roving.
We use this machine for:
✔ Alpaca
✔ Llama
✔ Sheep Wool
✔ Angora Goat Mohair
✔ Angora Rabbit
✔ Fiber Blends
Its large drum allows us to process generous batches while maintaining excellent fiber preparation and minimizing stress on delicate fibers.
Swing Picker

Before carding, fiber is prepared using our Swing Picker.
The picker carefully opens compacted fleece, removes second cuts and vegetable matter, and separates fibers before they ever reach the carder.
This extra preparation creates:
- Better carding
- More consistent batts
- Cleaner roving
- Improved spinning performance
Proper picking is one of the biggest differences between average fiber preparation and premium results.
Why Our Process Matters
Every fleece is different.
Rather than rushing fiber through industrial equipment, each order is evaluated individually. We adjust our process based on:
- Fiber type
- Staple length
- Crimp
- Lock structure
- Desired finished product
Whether you're preparing fiber for hand spinning, felting, or further processing, our goal is to preserve the natural beauty of your fleece while creating a product that's enjoyable to work with.
Small Batch Processing
We intentionally process in small batches to maintain consistency and quality.
Your fiber receives individual attention throughout the entire process, helping preserve its unique characteristics instead of blending it into large production runs.
Quality over quantity.
We believe exceptional fiber starts with careful preparation, quality equipment, and attention to detail, not rushing fleece through machines.
